Samsung KS850D 4K 8-Series Curved TV
I read plenty of reviews before deciding on a TV, so I knew I was going to like the KS850D from Samsung. Now that I’ve seen it in action, though, I think a lot more people are going to want one for themselves.
The first thing I noticed when I started hooking everything up was how many available inputs there are. With 4 HDMI inputs, I was able to connect cable, a DVD player and a gaming console and still have a port available. There are also 3 USB ports, so it is really easy to connect an external device like a video camera.
Once that was all done, I noticed how great the UN65KS850D looks sitting in my living room. The curved design looks very sharp. The TV is also very thin and sleek, and the bezel around the screen is so small it is barely noticeable.

Then I turned on the Samsung KS850D and the fun really began. The picture quality is something I’d never seen before on a TV. By taking Ultra High Def to a whole new level, Samsung found a way to make the picture quality absolutely brilliant.
Of course, I expected great picture quality because of the 4K resolution. However, there are a couple other technologies used by Samsung to make their 4K televisions even better. Through the use of Quantum Dot technology and support for HDR, or High Dynamic Range, the TV provides amazing detail. It doesn’t matter if a scene is bright, dark or a combination of the two. The details I could see make the pictures truly come to life.
I was a little worried about how the picture would look when displaying content that wasn’t 4K. However, even non-4K content looks great. This is because of the upscaling engine within the television, which is able analyze the video before it is displayed and convert it to near 4K quality.
The curved screen also adds to the viewing experience. I did my own test by sitting in different spots around my living room, and every angle looks great. I don’t know exactly how they did it, but Samsung has truly made it so every seat in the house gives a great viewing experience. No more arguing over the best seat anymore, that’s for sure.
I then connected the UN65KS850D to my home network so I could check out the Smart TV capabilities. Those are pretty awesome too, by the way. I mentioned connecting my gaming console to the TV. Well, it turns out I didn’t even need to console to play games. Samsung teamed up with PlayStation to allow users to play games from the Cloud, no gaming console needed!
Once connected, I also had access to everything the Internet has to offer. I could stream movies, check out social media or even shop for gifts. The TV can even act as a hub for other devices, so if you have home automation like lights or a thermostat, all of them can be controlled right from the TV.
Basically, Samsung KS850D does pretty much everything I wanted. It doesn’t support 3D, but I didn’t need that feature. The audio quality is also very nice, although it isn’t as powerful as some other Samsung televisions. All in all though, this TV has a ton to offer thanks to great picture quality and very powerful Smart TV capabilities.
With the KS850D, you can expect superior picture quality and Smart TV features. The screen is curved, so if you prefer flat panel you should check out other models from Samsung’s SUHD line.
Don’t let the curved screen turn you off, though. It looks great, especially with the thin bezel around the screen, and pretty much eliminates bad viewing angles.
Picture quality is better than other 4K televisions, thanks to Quantum Dot technology and support for High Dynamic Range, which the motion picture industry uses to produce films.
Finally, the Smart TV capabilities are extremely handy. You can play games without a console, wirelessly stream content from a mobile device, use voice commands to control the KS850D TV and more.
