LG UH7500 4K Smart TV

Type: LED Resolution: 4k Refresh Rate: 120 Hz Screen Size: 50″ – 65″

With plenty of reviews of LG, and other brands, under my belt – I’ve become a big fan of everything LG has to offer. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to put the LG UH7500 through the motions and see if it was everything I expected.

First, this is not from LG’s new line of OLED televisions. So, it isn’t fair to compare it with the OLED TVs. But, it is fair game to compare it to other Ultra High Def televisions and in that contest, it is a clear winner.

LG made sure they continue to produce televisions with exceptional picture quality when they designed this television. LG UH7500 supports a technology used by the movie industry called HDR, or High Dynamic Range, to blend colors and darks together seamlessly, resulting in crystal clear images that look amazing in any light and from any angle. You will see more colors than ever before. To be precise, this TV can display more than one billion colors, and all of them with exceptional clarity.

Review

The sound system is designed by the audio pros at Harmon Kardon, so it sounds really nice. It isn’t as powerful as other LG televisions because it is only capable of producing 20 watts. LG UH7500 also has less speaker channels that other LG models, but the audio quality is more than adequate. LG included support for the main audio standards, including DTS, Dolby Digital and a virtual surround sound mode.

You also get plenty of input options, with three HDMI inputs, plus three USB, RF, component/composite and optical audio. The inclusion of three HDMI inputs is a nice touch because many gaming systems now support HDMI. With three inputs, you can hook up your cable box, DVD player and gaming console at the same time.

I also like the number of USB ports, and I didn’t see this many on a lot of other TVs. The USB ports make it easy to hook up a still or video camera to check out pictures and videos.

The Smart TV capabilities are another reason you will really like LG UH7500. LG’s new system, the webOS 3.0, has some really cool features not found in other brands. First, you can zoom in while you are watching the TV. Just press zoom on the remote and enlarge any part of the picture to see every detail and color.

It is also very easy to connect mobile devices once you download LG’s free TV app. Once the app is on your phone or tablet, you can easily display content like pictures and videos, as well as other app content like games, on the TV.

I was also impressed with the included remote control. I know, I can hear you now…”Really, the remote???”. Well, the magic remote is very cool. Wave it around and use it like a mouse to point, click and scroll. Amaze your friends by changing the channel or volume with voice commands. All of this is possible because of the technology embedded in the remote.

About the only thing this TV doesn’t have is 3D capability, which is not really a big deal. I didn’t need 3D capability, but I did expect great picture quality and powerful Smart TV features. I got all of this, and more, with this LG television.

Conclusion

With the exception of 3D, this Ultra High Def UH7500 from LG is a clear winner over other UHD televisions. The 4K resolution and support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) images, the picture quality is something you have to see to appreciate.

The Smart TV capabilities only make the TV better. As with other UHD TVs from LG, you can zoom in on images, wirelessly connect mobile devices to display picture and videos, or use you voice to command the television. All this, and more, is possible with LG’s webOS 3.0 system.

The only place the LG UH7500 doesn’t stack up to other LG models is the audio, which is still solid thanks to the Harmon Kardon design and support for DTS, Dolby Digital and virtual surround sound. Everything comes together nicely to produce a TV that will make any home theater system a hit with you, your friends and family.
